Garmin First nüvi With Wireless Backup Camera
[CES 2014] The International Consumer Electronics Show 2013 is well underway in Las Vegas and already a lot of amazing technology has been unveiled that’s bound to keep us talking about it well into the new year. Garmin today announced a new range of automotive navigation devices, including its first nüvi with a wireless backup camera. Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales, says that customers now have even more choices to upgrade their vehicles with Garmin’s premium nagivation products. The Garmin nüvi 2798LMT is the company’s new navigator that has a 7 inch display as well as a wireless backup camera, allowing users to easily spot vehicles, obstructions and pedestrians when they back up their vehicles. The wireless backup camera can be mounted on the back of any vehicle and Garmin says that it is rugged enough to soldier through the “harshest of weather.” If the camera is wired to the vehcile’s reverse lights for power, nüvi 2798LMT can then automatically display live feed from the camera when the car is put into reverse, it would cut off the feed when the driver shifts back to a forward gear. If its wired to a constant power source, drivers can switch between navigation mode and camera mode at the touch of a button. The nüvi 2798LMT includes latest navigation technology from Garmin including traffic information, maps, Garmin Real Directions and voice activated navigation, Active Lane Guidance with voice prompts. It carries a suggested retail price of $399.99.
