Back in December 2013, BlackBerry and Foxconn announced a partnership in which it would see Foxconn help BlackBerry manufacture some of their phones. Now the good news is that if you were wondering how long it would take for you to see the fruit of their efforts, it seems that you might not have to wait too long. According to Terry Guo, the chairman of Hon Hai also known as Foxconn, it looks like the first BlackBerry-Foxconn handset will be making its debut at MWC 2014. According to Guo, “We are working with them to design a new device, and we will showcase multiple devices at the trade show in Barcelona in February.”Unfortunately the specifics of said device was not revealed by Guo, although many speculate that it could be the BlackBerry Jakarta, a low-end BlackBerry device that interestingly enough will not sport a physical keyboard, but a full touchscreen display, thus making it a low-cost alternative for customers looking for a touchscreen smartphone on the cheap. On a side-note it is interesting that Guo mentions “multiple devices”. We’re not sure if he means multiple BlackBerry devices, or multiple devices manufactured by Foxconn which could imply Firefox OS devices as well.
