Cricket Launches Rugged Kyocera Hydro Plus Smartphone
When it comes to smartphones, most of us would end up purchasing a slew of accessories for it to make sure that the beautiful exterior does not suffer from any nicks or scratches from everyday wear and tear. Having said that, there are some Android-powered smartphones that do come with a rugged exterior, as if they were taunting you to do your worst to them. Well, one of the latest models from Cricket would be the Kyocera Hydro Plus, where this smartphone’s rugged casing has been IP57 certified, which means it is able to withstand being immersed in water that is up to a meter deep, and to do so for a good half an hour – far more than any human can.
Not only that, despite its ability to swim with the fishes, so to speak, for some time, it does not burn a hole in your pocket either if you want to pick up this bad boy for your personal use. The Kyocera Hydro Plus from Cricket will come with entry-level specifications, which explains the highly affordable price point. We are looking at a 3.5” 320×480 resolution IPS touchscreen display, a 3.2MP camera with LED flash, a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655 processor, 512MB RAM, 2GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, alongside the usual bunch of connectivity options – Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G. There is no LTE or NFC support, though, and the Kyocera Hydro Plus can be yours for $139.99 unlocked.
