The HTC One from 2013 was a great handset that was marred by a series of delays that allowed the competition, namely from Samsung, to catchup and overshadow it. Hopefully that will not be the case for 2014 with the HTC One’s successor, which at the moment is tentatively known as the HTC M8. We have heard the possibility that it could be known as the HTC One Two, but additional rumors have suggested that the HTC One Two could be a series of handsets and not just a single one, but that’s a discussion for another day. In any case according to @evleaks, it seems that he has managed to get his hands on the specifications of the upcoming HTC M8, and based on the leaked specs, we can’t say that we’re too impressed.
Considering that the HTC One was released early last year, its specs such as a Full HD display and quad-core processor were fairly impressive, but considering that most, if not all, high-end smartphones in 2013 featured similar specs as well, it started to look “normal”. Assuming @evleaks’ information is accurate, the HTC M8 could feature a 5” Full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8974 processor, 2GB of RAM, an UltraPixel rear-facing camera, a 2.1MP front-facing camera, run on Android KitKat with Sense 6.0 on top. Like we said back in 2013 this would be a pretty impressive handset, but given that 2014 is expected to be the year where companies such as Samsung unleash 2K displays, the HTC M8’s specs are certainly lacking.
Of course this isn’t an official announcement so do take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Are you digging the rumored specs of the HTC One’s successor?
