There were other western media outlets at the event, including ZOL (a subsidiary of CBS) and ITProPortal (UK). VIP Asia 2013 reminded me how “awards” are important in Asia and there were a lot of companies from a wide array of sectors, not just tech. Since Ubergizmo has not participated to the selection of the entries and winners, I did not have a chance to look at all the products, but I got some hands-on time with locally made products and I’ve met their creators. For example, Dino World (also in English) is a fun educational app (iOS and Android) about… dinosaurs of course. It shows them in many situations and you even get to build your own dino skeleton.
VIP Asia 2013 was a nice and busy event, and I am looking forward to the 2014 edition. I hope to see more exotic Korean electronics and of course, new apps and services. Coincidentally, 2013 is also the 10th anniversary for the organizing company, Aving, so happy birthday to them!
