Over the past few months we have heard a lot of rumors about a Verizon exclusive Lumia smartphone. It is expected to be called the Lumia 929, though recent reports suggest that perhaps it might launch as the “Icon,” which is actually considered to be its internal codename. Verizon is yet to confirm this device, and obviously it hasn’t said anything about it up till now. A few days back it was rumored that the release has been pushed back to January 16th, but apparently it might take the Lumia 929 even longer to hit the shelves. The latest rumor suggests that Verizon Lumia 929 has been delayed until February 2014.
The reason behind this delay is said to be Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia’s devices and services division. It appears that Verizon wants to deal directly with Microsoft, which is why it is waiting for the deal to be closed. Microsoft’s acquisition deal has already received the required regulatory approval, it is expected to close the deal on time, within the first quarter of 2014. The Lumia 929 is believed to have the same internal specifications as the Lumia 1520, which was unveiled back in October. However, the Lumia 929 might have a 5 inch display instead of the 6 inch one found on the Lumia 1520.
