Mario Kart 8 is expected to be released in spring 2014, which means you’ve got about a little over 3 months to prepare yourself for the onslaught of racers. What better way to prepare yourself for the next version of Mario Kart is by watching a stop-motion video that creates a real-life version of the game that’s filled with the sights and sounds of Mario Kart 64? You’re right – there is no better way.
As you’ll see in the video above, two guys decide to take one another on in a game of Mario Kart 64, although somehow, they’re transported to a real-life version of the game where they race through a number of back alleys. The video is completely done in stop-motion, and if you know anything about that kind of video creation, then you’ll know just how impressive the end result of this video is.
In the video, you’ll see a number of well-known Mario Kart items being used, which includes banana peels, turtle shells and the mushroom boost. Both Mario and Luigi are pretty much neck and neck in the stop-motion video, but we won’t spoil who wins the race, especially since it’s the year of Luigi and all.
Oh! I said too much.
