Yes you read that right, it seems that not all Galaxy S5 models will get the LDS feature, but then again this isn’t too surprising. The Galaxy S4 came in two variants, with one variant running Qualcomm’s chipsets, while the other featured Samsung’s own Exynos chipset, so we wouldn’t be surprised if this could be a regional thing. Then again we had recently heard that there might be a regular Galaxy S5 and a more premium model, so perhaps the LDS antenna technology could be headed for the premium model as well.
For those wondering what is LDS, this is a feature that has made its way into the Galaxy Note 3. Basically it’s where the phone’s antenna is molded directly into the rear plate of the smartphone itself, allowing companies to manufacture even thinner devices. However it has also been said that this means the antennas are more susceptible to external damage, so you might want to take care of the device and not drop it too often.
In any case this is hardly official information so do take it with a grain of salt for now, but it seems that we have been hearing a lot of Galaxy S5-related rumors lately, so it’s probably about time to start sifting through all of them!
