According to a new report, it seems that it is more or less “confirmed” that the Galaxy S5 will feature a metal construction, making this the first Galaxy S device from Samsung to step away from the use of plastics which some have deemed to be considered “cheap”.
The report claims that Taiwanese company, Catcher, will be the primary supplier of metal housings for Samsung to use, while other suppliers such as Ju Teng, also a Taiwanese company, and BYD, a company from China, will be tapped to supply the remaining units.
Of course this is hardly credible information since there really isn’t proof so take it with a grain of salt for now, but it is no secret that Samsung has been getting a lot of flak for using plastic in its devices.
After all this year we saw flagships from HTC and Sony, both of whom turned to more “premium” materials such as aluminum and glass, and how can we not include Apple’s iPhone 5 as comparison as well.
Other rumored specs of the Galaxy S5 includes a 64-bit Exynos chipset, a 560ppi Super AMOLED display, and a 16MP rear-facing camera that might not include optical image stabilization.
