PayPal Now Offering Digital Gift Cards For Purchase

PayPal announced just last week they would start to accept prepaid gift cards for the purpose of making online purchases through its service. It looks like the gift card love isn’t stopping there as the company has announced they will begin allowing its customers to purchase digital gift certificates today, kicking off their PayPal Digital Gifts program with iTunes digital gift cards.

PayPal users can use the service’s Digital Gifts program to purchase iTunes gift cards in $15, $25, $50 and $100 denominations. The purpose of the PayPal Digital Gifts program is to hopefully streamline the process of ordering digital gift cards online while also giving its customers the layer of security we’ve all come to expect from PayPal.

The launch of PayPal Digital Gifts will certainly be a welcome service to those looking to purchase iTunes gift cards, but if you wish to purchase anything else, you’re out of luck at the moment. Fortunately, PayPal says they will be announcing additional partners in the very near future. Hopefully the additional partners will offer gift cards as popular as Apple’s iTunes gift cards as we certainly can imagine the PayPal Digital Gifts service allowing the likes of Amazon and maybe even the PlayStation Network offering their respective gift cards, but this is purely speculation on our part at the moment.
