After teasing the handset and seeing leaked photos, Oppo has officially taken the wraps off its brand new handset, the Oppo R1. Unlike the Oppo Find 7 which appears to pack some pretty impressive hardware, the Oppo R1 will instead focus more towards the camera side of things and looks to provide users with a smartphone camera that does well in low-light photography, allowing it to compete with the likes of the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the LG G2, both of which are pretty impressive when it comes to snapping photos in low-light conditions.
The Oppo R1 will feature an 8MP rear-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture which should be wide enough to let light in without having to resort of flash. While we have yet to try it for ourselves, Oppo states that it is capable of delivering excellent images. As for the rest of the specs, the Oppo R1 will sport a 5” 720p HD display and will be powered by MediaTek’s MT6582 chipset clocked at 1.3GHz (quad-core). It will also come with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage, a 2,410mAh battery, and will run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The handset is priced around $410 but unfortunately Oppo did not mention if and when it might make its way stateside.
