Minecraft For The Nintendo Wii U Rumored To Be In The Works
Minecraft was originally released for the PC, but due to its popularity, the game eventually made its way onto platforms like the Xbox 360 and the PS3, and with over 33 million units of the game reportedly sold to date, it looks like the game is a huge success. However there are still platforms left to conquer, such as Nintendo’s Wii U platform, and according to recent rumors, it has been suggested that Minecraft could be making its way onto the Wii U in the future. This is based on an anonymous source who spoke to the folks at NintendoEnthusiast and claimed that Mojang, the developer of the game, had recently received development kits for the Wii U and had already begun developing the game for the console.
The rumors claim that the GamePad would be used as part of the game, and given that the GamePad is what makes the Wii U console unique, we guess this is sort of unsurprising. It is unclear what the GamePad could be used for, but it has been speculated that perhaps it could be used to manage one’s inventory or craft new objects. So far developers haven’t exactly been supportive of Nintendo’s Wii U platform, with big name developers having no plans to launch games for the platform, or in some cases have even been removed certain features that other platforms get access to. With Minecraft expected to make its way onto the Xbox One and PS4 come 2014, adding the Wii U to the list of supported platforms would no doubt expand its reach.
