Speaking to Finnish website Talouselämä, Jolla’s CEO, Tomi Pienimäki, revealed that he plans on making the Sailfish OS available to Android devices. He stated that he sees Jolla as both a device business and an OS business, which we guess is similar to what Google is doing through its Nexus devices and Android operating system. As it stands, Sailfish OS is compatible with Android apps and according to Pienimäki, installing Sailfish onto your Android device is “fairly easy”. There’s no word on when Jolla plans on distributing the Sailfish OS, but the good news is that it appears that it will be free, although they do plan to add features such as services and advertising that would allow them to monetize it. What do you guys think? Would you be interested in flashing the Sailfish OS onto your Android smartphone?
