Evasi0n iOS 7 Jailbreak Faces Controversy Over Pirated Apps Store
Earlier we reported that the folks at Evad3rs had released the untethered iOS 7 jailbreak but it seems that along with the jailbreak, they include an app store called Taig which is from China, but as it turns out Taig is a third party store in which there are many cracked apps, essentially meaning that they are pirated apps. While it is commonly understood that when one jailbreaks their device, some of them do so because they wish to download pirated apps as opposed to paying for it via the iTunes App Store. Others have more legitimate reasons, such as wanting to tweak their device.
In any case it would seem that the inclusion of Taig has been met with a lot of negativity, to the point where the team had to release a statement on the matter. “Taig has never asked us to disclose our exploits to them, let alone sell them. We were simply asked to bundle their third-party app store in China in a similar way we bundle and distribute Cydia around the world as an additional App Store, and in a similar way to how previous jailbreaks like blackra1n have bundled non-Cydia stores.” Taig has agreed to work on removing pirated apps in their store, with Evad3rs claiming that they will keep an eye on the situation, and will remove Taig if the matter cannot be resolved.
