Its not like there’s any shortage of players in the global smartphone market. At the top you have Apple and Samsung, who are being trailed by the likes of LG, HTC, Sony and more. There are some manufacturers that are popular in certain regions, such as Lenovo, ZTE, Xiaomi etc. Taiwanese manufacturer BenQ, known for its monitors and peripherals, said late last year that it won’t be entering the smartphone market again, but it clearly changed its mind. BenQ has launched two new smartphones this month, the F3 and A3.
The BenQ F3 and A3 are powered by MediaTek MT6589 and Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8225Q 1.2Ghz processors respectively, with a 4.6inch 960×540 IPS display, 4GB of onboard storage with option to expand externally using microSD cards, 1GB RAM, and a 2 megapixel front camera. The F3 has a 2,100mAh and the A3 has a 2,000mAh battery, apart from a f/2.2 13 megapixel rear camera with HDR and 8 megapixel rear camera, respectively. Off contract, the BenQ F3 retailers for roughly $270 in Taiwan, whereas the A3 will cost around $200 when it comes out later this month. Currently the smartphones are only available in Taiwan, BenQ hasn’t said if it has any plans of releasing them across the globe. [Image via Engadget]
