I am quite sure that there was plenty of buzz surrounding the release of BBM when it was first released to cater to both iOS as well as Android mobile operating systems in October earlier this year. Well, while October has come and gone, the number of features available on BBM for iOS and Android are not exactly what you would call complete, but fret not, the folks over at BlackBerry are not quite done with BBM yet, as they intend to introduce more features into BBM for iOS and Android next year, and not just for the app itself.
The most significant changes which Android and iOS users will enjoy include BBM Voice and BBM Channels. BBM Voice is similar to the likes of Skype or Google Hangouts, letting you talk to your contacts without having to use up your minutes, while Channels would be BlackBerry’s take where social networks are concerned. Right now, BBM users on BB10 are already enjoying both features, so it is nice to see the rest of BBM’s users across different platforms being up to speed with the latest version. Considering how 2014 is not too far away, I suppose you could call this a belated Christmas present from BlackBerry. [Press Release]
