Gamers who’re anxiously waiting for Microsoft’s next generation console to drop now have one less thing to wait for. The company has confirmed that Xbox One is not going to support gameplay broadcasts via the Twitch app at launch. Microsoft acknowledges that gamers are excited about the ability to instantly broadcast gameplay, but adds that the feature is not going to be available right away. The company says it is working on ensure that the broadcast experience meets that of the Twitch community, so its goal is to deliver the feature “during the first part of 2014.”
That said, Microsoft did detail the Twitch app for Xbox One today. The app will let Xbox Live Gold members to view Twitch’s full content catalog from PC and console broadcasters, it also comes with Snap mode which lets gamers do two things at once on the same screen. For example, gamers can play a game while they watch Twitch videos. They can instantly jump into the app from any activity, all they need to do is say “Xbox, go to Twitch.” At launch, the app will offer ten achievements that gamers can unlock, and Microsoft has listed all of them in today’s blog post.
