Well the good news is that Microsoft has since addressed the issue, issuing a statement claiming, “Microsoft has confirmed, on November 10th, that the temporary issue is now resolved.” Prior to the fix, what Microsoft had done to temporary halt the unnecessary data usage was to sync Twitter accounts to the device only once a day, which in theory should have stopped excess data from being used. The alternative would be to remove your account from the phone entirely which might be a big no-on for heavy tweeters. In any case hopefully this will resolve the issue, but if you’re still a little paranoid, you can always check on your data usage to make sure that things are indeed back to normal.
