Samsung Sport Trademark Filed, Possible Fitness Accessory
Samsung has recently filed for a trademark at the USPTO for a product named the “Samsung Sport”. While such a device has yet to be actually unveiled or announced by Samsung, it’s safe to assume that the Samsung Sport might be some kind of fitness accessory that can be worn on the user while they perform their workouts. This is not the first time Samsung has entered the fitness industry or the wearable computing industry as they had previously released some health-related features with the Samsung Galaxy S3, like the S Health app.
We have also seen Samsung’s attempt at a wearable gadget in the form of the Galaxy Gear which does come with some basic sports functions, so we’re not sure if the Samsung Sport might have anything different to offer. The only difference we can imagine would be how it might be more rugged and offer deeper health tracking, like the Nike FuelBand SE or the Jawbone UP which have accompanying fitness apps that makes tracking your workout more detailed and to a certain extent, more competitive as well. We’re not sure when Samsung will release such a device, but with CES 2014 around the corner, perhaps we will learn more then.
