Samsung Galaxy S4 Gets Alpha CyanogenMod 11 ROM
If there is one drawback to using non-Nexus Android devices is that you’d have to wait a fair bit before the latest build of Android is issued to you. Depending on what’s new in the latest update, this might be a non-issue for you, but for those absolutely have to have the latest build all the time, this can be rather annoying. While we know that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will eventually be upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat, thanks to a leaked memo, the good news is that if you’d rather not sit around and wait for it, you’re in luck because it seems that an Alpha version of CyanogenMod 11 (Android 4.4 KitKat) is available for your device.
However just in case the Alpha tag did not already alert you, this is an extremely early build of the ROM which means that there are a lot of features that are still missing from the device, as well as things that might not be working as intended. This means that using it as your daily driver is probably not the best idea. On the other hand if you don’t mind, or just want to see what sort of goodies and new features that will be part of Android 4.4 KitKat for the Galaxy S4, feel free to hit up the XDA Developers forum for the download. Once again we caution you on installing custom ROMs especially if you don’t know what you’re doing, so proceed at your own risk, and always be sure to make backups before doing so!
