Years ago if gamers wanted to play games, they’d either have to be willing to drop a lot of money on a gaming rig or purchase a console, which at that time was considerably cheaper compared to building a gaming PC for oneself. These days PCs and their components are starting to get cheaper and it does not take too much money to build a relatively decent gaming computer to play games with, which has some believing that PC gaming will eventually take over console gaming. In fact it was several months ago that an NVIDIA executive believed that PC games’ graphics would soon outstrip consoles, and now according to NVIDIA’s Matt Wright, he believes that PC systems are considered to be the more “superior” choice when it comes to gaming.
Speaking to MCV, Wright was quoted as saying, “The PC platform is far superior to any console when it comes to gaming, plus you get all the extra functionality that a computer brings […] Steam now has more users than Xbox Live… There’s a huge community who love playing their games on PC.” Wright goes on to highlight games such as Minecraft and World of Tanks as examples of how some games on the PC are still popular despite being around for a while. We reckon there are merits to owning a console and a PC for gaming as they both offer different styles, and at the end of the day it really just boils down to personal preference.
