Warner Bros. seems to be on a roll today – we first brought you word of the possibility of a Temple Run movie being made, and here we are with an announcement that Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, a third person action game is being developed for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. I guess all of the fanfare surrounding the Lord of the Rings movies have yet to die down despite the trilogy being over a long time ago already.
The Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor project will be spearheaded by F.E.A.R. developer Monolith Productions. In this title, players will play the role of Talion, a ranger who happens to be on a path of vengeance after he witnessed the slaughter of his family (and himself). He returned from the dead thanks to a Spirit of vengeance, and has been empowered with Wraith abilities. Talion then ventures into Mordor with the vow to destroy those who have wronged him. Of course, in his journey, he also discovers the truth of the Spirit that compels him, while learning the origins of the Rings of Power as well as confront his true enemy at the end. Do you think that this is a premise which gamers will bite, and will we see some of the Fellowship of the Nine make a cameo?
