iPad Mini With Retina’s Benchmarks Prove Its Almost As Fast As The iPhone 5s

While we knew that Apple’s new iPad mini with Retina display would see a release in November, a specific release date was never mentioned, but the wait is over as you might recall that yesterday, the highly-anticipated tablet finally went up for sale. In any case we’re sure many are wondering just how well the iPad mini with Retina display performs. With the iPad Air, Apple introduced the A7X chipset, but with the iPad mini, they decided to reuse the A7 chip which can also be found inside the new iPhone 5s. Now thanks to new benchmarks, we can find out just how well the iPad mini performs.

According to a test performed on GeekBench, it was found that the iPad mini with Retina display was clocked at 1.29GHz, marginally shy of the 1.3GHz on the iPhone 5s, but noticeably less than the iPad Air’s 1.39GHz. However unless you’re running apps that require every last drop of processing power, chances are you might not even be able to tell the difference. Hardware specs also don’t necessarily translate into a better product, as you will note in our Tegra Note 7 review where despite the tablet not featuring the best of the best hardware, proved to be a tablet more than capable of holding its own.
