Today, Microsoft has finally released Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 users. The final release is available for download today worldwide, whereas the company says that it will begin automatically updating Windows 7 users in “the weeks ahead.” Starting today, users running Internet Explorer 11 Developer and Release Previews are going to be updated. From the looks of it, IE11 might look similar to its predecessor, however the latest release brings a lot of changes that have been made under the hood.
Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 comes with WebGL, and according to Microsoft, the overall performance is nearly 30 faster for real world websites – particularly on Windows 7 where IE11 is said to be 9 percent faster than its predecessor, IE10. Improvement in performance should hopefully be noticeable to users, since IE11 for Windows 7 uses the same engine that it does on Windows 8.1. where performance has been improved across the board for faster page loading, JavaScript performance and faster interactivity.
The updated version also reduces CPU usage and improves battery life. IE11 also enables HTML5 video without plugins and supports latest standards for adaptive streaming, rights management and closed captioning. Windows 7 users interested in downloading Internet Explorer 11 today can do so from Microsoft’s website, and if you don’t want to go through with the manual update, Microsoft is going to update it for you any way in “the weeks ahead.”
Windows 7 developers also get access to the IE11 set of tools that helps with performance profiling, memory tracking and overall web app debugging. Productive tools are extremely important since it saves valuable development time, which is one of the most expensive part of building and running a web site.
