We’ve seen Google Street View bring us some amazing views that we probably wouldn’t be able to see unless we decide to travel around the world. Earlier this year, Google gave us unrestricted access to a number of NFL stadiums, and today, the search giant is taking us to the watery canals of Venice, Italy.
Google sent over one of those fancy, shmancy Google Trekkers to brave the world-famous canals of Venice. As a result of them adventuring into the real world, you can now sit at your computer desk and explore Venice’s canals, its streets and more bridges than you can shake a slice of pizza at. Google also allows its users to view how Venice has changed since 1838 through the magic of being able to compare modern-day Venice with a really old map.
Just remember, if you make your way through Venice by way of Google Maps, you really shouldn’t consider this an actual trip. We don’t want to hear that you went around to all your friends in town, saying you went to Venice during your lunch break. Not only will you be called a liar, but also considered a weirdo, that is, unless you actually live in Venice.
