EA VP: PS5 And Xbox Two To Launch In 5, 6 Years’ Time
The dust has yet to settle after the two titans of console gaming, the Sony PS4 as well as the Xbox One, were launched recently, and both of them have also managed to sell more than a million units each in under 24 hours. The PS4 itself was launched a good seven years after the PS3 rolled out, and for the Xbox One, it has been eight long years since the Xbox 360 actually went on sale. EA Studios executive vice president Patrick Söderlund shared, “This console cycle may have gone on a little bit longer than I would have wanted… a five, six year gap is what I expect going forward.”
Hmmm, a five or six year gap? That would be shorter than the previous two consoles’ respective cycles, and it would also mean that you should do your level best to pick up either one or both of the consoles as soon as possible if the next console cycle were to be this short in order to maximize your playing time on either one of them. Still, we do expect the PS3 and Xbox 360 to stick around for some time still, as at the end of their current cycle, there were still quality games that rolled out such as The Last of Us and GTA V, according to Patrick, which is not something that we would have expected a few years back.
