Amazon released its latest Kindle Fire just last week called the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 (which is now shipping), which includes a neat feature that allows its users to chat with a member of the company’s live support team through a “Mayday” button. As such, Amazon has rolled out an update to its tablet software that was specifically designed for its latest tablets.
Amazon’s Fire OS 3.1 update will now allow better support for work places that have a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) environment as it allows Kindle Fire HD and HDX owners to use secure Wi-Fi network support and native virtual-private networking (VPN) software. Fire OS 3.1 also comes with a Kindle-specific device management API that will integrate with already existing management systems.
That’s not all as Amazon has packed quite a lot into Fire OS 3.1 as users can now use Cloud Collections, which is software that helps keep your books, magazines, newspapers and applications organized in their own customized collections to help find them better. Voice dictation is now available in all languages, wireless printing of photos, PDF documents, emails, contacts, calendar and documents and a Second Screen support.
If you own a Kindle Fire HD or one of the new Kindle Fire HDX tablets, then make sure you snag the update as it seems like it’s quite the doozy.
