I don’t ride motorcycles, so I don’t have a clue what it’s like to wear a motorcycle helmet. One thing I do know is that it’s probably difficult to see what’s going on behind you while you’re riding, leaving you to need to glance at your side-view mirrors whenever you want to see how close someone is to the rear of your bike. Skully Helmets has unveiled a new helmet that will make it much easier to see what’s going on behind you by using a camera positioned at the rear of the helmet.

The Skully P1 is Skully Helmets’ latest creation and what makes it stand out is the fact it has an integrated rearview camera which shows what’s going on behind the rider through a small heads-up display that can be viewed through the helmet’s visor. The camera is able to give a 180-degree view of what’s going on bend the wearer, and it’s also able to pair with smartphones so you can use voice controls to make calls, listen to music and get turn-by-turn directions.

The helmet has an internal battery that lasts for nine hours per charge and runs on Android, which Skully Helmets plans of launching an SDK next year to allow developers to create applications specifically for the Skully P1. At this time, no pricing or availability have been announced.
