Pokemon X & Y was released over the weekend on October 12 globally. As a result, many dormant Pokemon trainers have once again picked up their Nintendo handheld in order to train their Pokemon to battle one another until we get a screaming Charmander. Pokemon has always been a very big game series for Nintendo, which is why we’re not completely surprised to hear the company has sold over 4 million units of both Pokemon X and Pokemon Y in its first two days of being available.
Pokemon X and Pokemon Y marks the first time a Pokemon game was launched globally, so it isn’t fair to compare its sales with previously sold titles. But, Nintendo does so anywayas they say Pokemon X and Pokemon Y is on track to be the fastest-selling Nintendo 3DS game of all time, and looks to be outpacing sales of the previous Pokemon titles, Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2, by over 70%.
“The early response to Pokémon X and Pokémon Y not only reaffirms the ongoing passion of Pokémon fans, but also indicates that an entirely new generation of gamers is eager to experience the franchise for itself,” said Nintendo President Satoru Iwata.
It also helps Pokemon X and Pokemon Y have been receiving favorable review scores from many gaming outlets. We’re sure you already have your copy in hand by now, but if you don’t, we see no reason why you shouldn’t be playing Pokemon X or Pokemon Y right now.
