According to the description of the Digital Bag Tag, the device is a “system that will further reduce travel time and increase convenience, especially for frequent flyers. Instead of the usual paper tag that is attached to baggage before it makes its way to the airplane, a digital tag containing flight details ranging from destination to connecting flights and return journey is used.” The device itself will be reusable and has been designed with a battery life of about five years and could see the amount of paper tags being used, which would be great for the environment as well. British Airways believes that this new system will be more efficient than before and the airline company will begin to trial the new system starting from today.
