Google Might Not Go With ASUS For 2014’s Nexus 7 [Rumor]
As it stands, ASUS is the manufacturer responsible for creating the Google Nexus 7 tablet and if the rumors are to be believed, they could be responsible for 2013’s Nexus 10 tablet as well. Interestingly enough despite the rumors suggesting that Google dropped Samsung in favor of ASUS for the Nexus 10 this year, come 2014 and the next-gen Nexus 7, word on the street has it that Google will no longer be going with ASUS. According to a post by DigiTimes, the reason Google might drop ASUS next year is because the company has been making too many different tablets of their own, which we guess could be either seen as creating too much competition for Google’s offerings, or it could be that Google feels that ASUS might not be concentrating on their products as much.
At the same time the argument has been made that the reason ASUS is cranking out as many tablets as they have is because they could be dropped by Google next year. Then again Google has typically opened up its Nexus products to a variety of manufacturers, allowing them to bid on projects, so perhaps ASUS has had enough or Google might have found someone else who could do a better job. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully if this rumor turns out to be true, whoever takes over next year will be able to do as good a job as ASUS, if not better.
