Dell Announces Venue 7 And Venue 8 Android Tablets

At an event in New York City, Dell today announced two new Android powered tablets called Dell Venue 7 and Dell Venue 8. The company said earlier this year that it would revive the “Venue” brand, no one knew that part of the revival would include two new Android tablets as well. Both tablets are relatively low cost offerings, powered by an Intel Z2580 2GHz dualcore “Clover Trail” processor and only 16GB of onboard storage on the Venue 7. It is said that the Venue 8 will be offered with a 32GB storage option. External memory expansion via microSD cards is possible. The monikers of the tablets actually indicate their display sizes, 7 and 8 inches respectively. Despite the difference in size, both IPS display panels offer 1,280×800 pixel resolution.

It goes without saying that these new Android tablets aren’t exactly going to be showstoppers, giving their relatively modest specifications. They do stand out on one factor though, which is actually quite a bit deal for most customers when they’re in the market for a tablet: price. Dell has competitively priced its new Android tablets, with the Venue 7 costing $149.99 and the Venue 8 just $20 higher, coming in at $179.99. Dell will release both tablets in the market on October 18th, they’ll come with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean pre-installed.
