Sony Wants To Sell 5 Million PS4 Consoles Before End Of Fiscal Year

Just how do you measure the success of a company? That question can be a tricky or difficult one to answer, especially when you take into consideration the number of criteria that one could figure out. Well, when it comes to gaming and hardware companies, numbers do not lie. Sony, a consumer electronics giant in their own right, has just announced over at its Tokyo Game Show keynote that it has set an ambition to sell a whopping five million PlayStation 4 consoles before the end of the fiscal year.

This is definitely a statement of intention, and a bold one by that, by anyone’s guess. Of course, the scope of this ambition might prove to be beyond reach, especially when you consider that the Sony PS4 will not launch in Japan, its home country, until February next year. If you think that 5 million might not amount to much, do take into consideration Nintendo’s Wii U that moved around 2.5 million plus consoles during its corresponding launch period. If you were to take its predecessor, the PS3 into consideration as a comparison, that particular console arrived at the 5 million mark only nearly a year after its launch.
