If you’ve been keeping an eye on the Xbox One, specifically focusing on what it can do besides playing video games, then you know Microsoft’s upcoming next-generation console includes an HDMI-in port. The purpose of this port is in order to connect your cable box to your Xbox One so you can watch live TV while still being able to access the console, allowing you to Skype, check in on your friends’ progress and browse the console in general while catching up with the latest episode of The Vampire Diaries. If you plan on owning a PlayStation 4 as well as an Xbox One, it turns out you can theoretically use its HDMI-in port to play the PS4 while using your Xbox One. Madness!

Microsoft executive Albert Panello spoke with Gamespot at this week’s Tokyo Game Show, where he was questioned whether or not the PlayStation 4 will work with the Xbox One’s HDMI pass-through port. “Any application can be snapped to a game… so if you wanted to be playing Ryse and Killzone at the same time, you could snap that,” Panello told Gamespot.

Judging by Panello’s statement, we think it’s safe to assume any game console, or consumer product for that matter, can be “snapped” into the Xbox One through its HDMI-in port. So for those of you who were crying the Xbox One wouldn’t be backwards compatible, hooking your Xbox 360 up to your Xbox One is certainly a possibility.
