Otterbox Announces TouchID Compatible iPhone 5S Cases
When Apple announced the iPhone 5S today with its new TouchID sensor built into the home button, many were wondering what this could mean for case manufacturers, especially those who typically encase the iPhone entirely, and sometimes even providing an external button to press the home button with. Those cases are typically designed for those who require the ultimate protection of their phone, but at the same time it would render the feature useless. Well the good news for Otterbox fans is that the company has announced new cases that have been designed for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C in mind that will also play nicely with the TouchID sensor.
According to the Otterbox press release, “The new styling of the Defender Series was designed specifically to accommodate the new Touch ID fingerprint identity sensor technology, and all device functionality remains uninhibited by the case.” The cases that will play nicely with the iPhone 5S includes the Defender, Commuter, Reflex, and Prefix cases and are available for purchase. The Defender and Commuter cases for the iPhone 5C are expected to be made available at a later date. The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will go on sale come 20th of September, but we guess you can go ahead and purchase your accessories in the meantime.
