As you guys probably are aware, the popular game Minecraft has made its way onto a variety of platforms such as the PC, Microsoft’s Xbox 360, and mobile devices like the iPhone, although we’re sure some are wondering why the game is still missing from Nintendo’s platform? We’re sure many are asking that question and when Nintendo was asked about the potential of Minecraft being developed for either the Wii U or 3DS handheld console, Nintendo’s business development manager, Dan Adelman, was quoted as saying, “We’re big fans. We have a continuing relationship with Mojang, and respect all the work that they’re doing, but no announcements at this time.”
This seems to echo Mojang’s Jens Bergensten’s statement from earlier this year where he stated back in March that Minecraft for the Wii U would be “very unlikely”. Assuming this is true and Nintendo truly has no plans to bring the game onto their platform, it would be another blow dealt to Nintendo gamers. So far we’ve seen several big studios pass on developing games for the Wii U, and even third-party developers tasked to port existing titles to the Wii U have also stated that there is no interest in the platform at the moment.
