Microsoft Says Surface Pro To Continue

surface-pro-remainsIt was earlier this week when there were whispers of Microsoft discontinuing sales of its original Surface Pro tablet, never mind the fact that this particular device was launched not even a year ago – a mere seven months back to be exact. The reason behind such murmurings? Well, Microsoft did make an announcement concerning a couple of upcoming tablets, namely the Surface 2 and the Surface Pro 2, which will hit the market officially this coming October 22nd. It is then nice to hear from the folks over at Microsoft that the original Surface Pro will not be discontinued, and in their statement, it reads as follows.

Surface Pro will continue to be available via authorized commercial resellers. However, after October 22, Surface Pro will no longer be available for purchase from Microsoft or its retail partners in most markets where Surface Pro 2 is sold.

As it seems that the Surface Pro will no longer be sold in retail stores, at least the original Surface RT tablet will still see some market action, with its 32GB model going for $349 a pop. Would the price be able to drop any lower due to the high inventory that they currently hold for the tablet? Let us keep our fingers crossed.
