iPhone 6 May Have 4.5 To 5 Inch Display

Ever since the first iPhone was launched back in 2007 till the iPhone 4S in 2011, Apple didn’t change the 3.5 inch display size. In 2012 it finally budged, releasing the iPhone 5 with a 4 inch display. A recent report by the WSJ suggested that the company is testing prototypes of a next generation smartphone with displays as large as 6 inches. Even if it is working with different prototype to gauge what screen size works best, Apple probably won’t jump any higher than 5 inches, according to famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities.

The iPhone’s major rivals all have large displays, the market is there, customers are opting for them. Various analysts have predicted that Apple will react to this market change. Kuo believes that the iPhone 6 will come with a larger display, but it’ll probably only measure between 4.5 inches to 5 inches diagonally. Anything near 5.5 inches or above would push it into the “phablet” category, it is unlikely that Apple would go down that road with its flagship smartphones. Even with the larger display, Apple will reportedly continue to use in-cell touch technology so as to keep the display panels thin. Rest assured, we’ll be hearing a lot about the iPhone 6 from now on, considering that this year’s iPhone announcement is going to take place tomorrow, which will finally put an end to the endless rumors.
