iPad Mini 2 Might Not Ship With iPad 5 Later This Year [Rumor]
Come October, many expect that Apple will take the wraps off their new iPad tablets: the fifth-gen iPad and the iPad mini 2, which many believe will sport a Retina display. Either way if you were looking forward to the iPad mini 2 shipping alongside its larger 9.7” sibling, you might be out of luck because according to the reports, production yields of the iPad mini 2’s Retina display might be holding the tablet back from a simultaneous release. We’re not sure if this means that the tablet will not be unveiled at the same time as the regular-sized iPad, or if it will be announced later.
According to iHS iSuppli’s supply chain, “The Retina Mini looks less certain for that time […] Manufacturing volumes on that would match better with a Q114 [first quarter 2014] launch.” It had been suggested in the past Apple could run into production difficulties with the display for the iPad mini 2 and assuming this recent report is accurate, it looks like the prediction made earlier this year could be coming true. We’re not sure how big of a delay this could be, but if you were planning on picking up the tablet for yourself this October, you might not want to get your hopes up just yet.
