HTC Acknowledges HTC One Camera Problems

htc-oneDuring our review of the HTC One, we did not run into much problems with the unit or its camera, but it seems that in the month of June, a thread popped up on the XDA forums where a user complained about how photos taken in low-light situations have resulted in red, blue, or purple noise. According to the complaint, “my problem is that in night shots and very low light scenes, the camera turns the black into blue (or red in very very dark scenes). For example, I included some photos, on a dark street with only a few light posts it turns black areas into blurry blue. Yes, it lets in more light (and more natural looking light) than my old One X, but the black areas are blue.”

It seems that the person who started the thread was not alone in this and many HTC One owners have since come forward claiming that they experiencing similar issues as well. In fact a poll was taken recently where 328/388 users said “Yes” to their HTC One having camera problems like the one described above. Speaking to HTC, Italian website hdblog.it managed to get a confirmation from the company where they acknowledged the issue and claimed that they are working on it. As it stands the work around is to either reduce the ISO levels, or return the handset for a replacement.

If you’re wondering if your unit is affected, what you can do is lay the device flat on its back with the camera app launched, or cover the camera, and see if you get issue pictured in the screenshot above. So, any HTC One owners who frequent our site run into this issue?
