Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5 is no stranger to controversy as we’re sure those of you who are currently playing the game are all too well aware. The M-rated video game contains subject matter that would make even the most hardened gamers blush, although one thing that seems to be circulating around Grand Theft Auto 5 is its supposed racism against one of its main characters.
According to a number of people who have published their findings across a number of social media websites as well as forums, it seems Grand Theft Auto 5’s police squad, the Los Santos PD, might be discriminating towards one of the game’s main characters, Franklin, who happens to black. A number of stories have claimed Los Santos PD have acted aggressively towards Franklin, such as by pulling up next to a cop car and honking or even playing a game of fetch with Chop.
Rockstar Games has never said they would make the police in Grand Theft Auto 5 act aggressively towards Franklin in the past, which makes these current claims a little strange. From my personal experience, I’ve never seen anything like this happen during my play time with Grand Theft Auto 5, but now that I’m aware of it, I’ll certainly be walking around as Franklin a lot more to see if he’s being profiled or not.
Have you experienced any instances where the Los Santos PD are active aggressively towards Franklin? We’d love to hear your stories.
