In a strange way, this might sound as though one is putting the cart before the horse – as the famous iPhone clone manufacturer, GooPhone, has already started to ship the GooPhone i5C. Just in case you had the inkling that the GooPhone i5C is a clone of the yet unreleased iPhone 5C, then you are absolutely spot on. So much for the “cheaper iPhone” being able to cater for the entry level market, as it is just a wee bit more affordable and definitely remains out of reach of most working class folk.
The GooPhone i5C has already started to ship to folks living in China, where it shares plenty of external cosmetics with the original iPhone 5C. Underneath the hood, however, many things are a whole lot different, as the GooPhone i5C would boast of a 4” touchscreen display at 540 × 960 resolution, an 8-megapixel shooter at the back, a front-facing 2-megapixel camera, a dual-core 1.3GHz MediaTek processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot and a 2,000mAh battery. Oh yeah, what looks like iOS 7 is actually a skin running on top of Google’s Android mobile operating system. We do wonder whether the GooPhone i5C would sell well in its home country.
