BlackBerry Pushing For A Quick Sale, Aims To Complete It By November
With Microsoft recently acquiring Nokia’s cellphone business, BlackBerry investors have found a new surge of optimism, believing that their company, too, could find a buyer. Now according to a report from the Wall Street Journal, BlackBerry has since received several offers to buy out the company and that BlackBerry is currently looking to speed up the process and hopefully complete it by November later this year. Unfortunately in the report the names of BlackBerry’s suitors were not mentioned (unsurprisingly), nor were there any details about how the company would be sold off. Would it be sold as a whole? In parts? Or will BBM indeed be spun-off into a separate entity like the rumors suggested?
Earlier it was reported that BlackBerry had formed a team to explore “strategic alternatives” that would help determine the future of the company. There have also been rumors that Microsoft could be interested in a potential BlackBerry acquisition as they have apparently been eyeing the company for quite a while now, but we wonder if that has changed in light of the company’s recent Nokia acquisition. In any case hopefully more details will be revealed in due time, so check back with us later for more updates!
