Apple Removes Beta Tag From Siri
When Apple first announced Siri, it was initially met with positive feedback based on the demonstrations performed on stage, but in real life Siri just did not live up to expectations, leading Apple to deal with lawsuits and claims that Siri was being falsely advertised. Siri was then revealed to be in “beta” which would explain why it was not performing optimally and the beta tagline was usually found on the bottom of the Siri page on Apple’s website, where it reads, “Siri is available in Beta only on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad with Retina display, iPad mini, and iPod touch (5th generation) and requires Internet access.”
However now with iOS 7 pegged for a release in the next couple of days, it seems that Apple thinks that Siri is apparently functional enough to exit its beta phase, and the website has since removed the “beta” tag from the wording from the bottom. It is true that Apple was planning on making major improvements to Siri in iOS 7, so hopefully in a few days when the update has been released to the masses, we will know if Siri has truly been upgraded or if it is still the same and somewhat clunky feature that debuted with the iPhone 4S.
