Yahoo recently released a new weather app for iOS. It was completely redesigned and the company won a lot of praise due to the design of this app. Users who downloaded it certainly seem to love it, the app even managed to catch Apple’s attention, which lauded it with a Design Award at WWDC 2013. Yahoo has now brought that app as well as its feature set over to Android.
The design is similar to its iOS counterpart and so is the typography. It shows location specific background images which are pulled from Flickr, a popular image hosting service that Yahoo owns. Apart from conventional weather information, the app also offers hour by hour predictions and even 10 day forecasts. Sunrise and sunset times, moon phases, UV patterns and wind pressure can also be found out through the app. Users can stay up to date without needing to launch the app through lockscreen and homescreen widgets. The app is also capable of providing weather alerts and can sync notification from a Yahoo account. Yahoo Weather for Android is available as a free download from Google Play Store.
