This was confirmed by the game’s director, Matt Firor (via AusGamers), who revealed that the microtransactions will not be about powerups or anything that gives a player an advantage over another, but rather will sell “fun stuff and services”, such as name changes and presumably cosmetic items like armor pieces that are just for show. Firor reassured gamers that the core game is included in the subscription fee, so fret not!
Recently Blizzard has revealed that they are not opposed to taking the World of Warcraft title free-to-play, although this was merely a musing and not a confirmation, so it’s interesting to see the developers behind The Elder Scrolls Online still believing in the subscription model. What do you guys think? Would you prefer subscription or F2P?
