Rumored Sony A3000 (ILC-3000) To Sport 20MP Sensor
Just the other day we reported that Sony might have a new entry-level E-mount camera in the works that could be announced in August/September. The device at the moment is tentatively known as the A3000, or ILC-3000 as it will be known in other markets. Last we heard it was supposed to be an affordable E-mount camera and would compete against Canon’s REBEL lineup of DSLRs, although that might seem a little weird given that it would be part of Sony’s mirrorless lineup. In any case the folks at Digicaminfo have managed to obtain more information about the upcoming A3000 (ILC-3000) and according to them, the camera is expected to sport a new 20.1MP APS-C sensor.
The device would feature a built-in EVF (electronic viewfinder) and its design would look like one of Sony’s SLT cameras, which might explain why it is part of Sony’s “A” lineup of SLT cameras, even though it’s not supposed to be one. While the camera might have been designed to look like an SLT camera, there is reportedly no SLT technology in it as it will in reality be an E-mount device. In any case we’ll be taking this with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we will be hearing more about it in the coming weeks/month.
