No LG G2 Google Edition Planned For The Moment

LG’s latest smartphone, the LG G2, was announced earlier today and while the phone does sport some pretty impressive hardware, it runs on an LG skinned version of Android, which for some isn’t a big deal, but for others it could be quite a turn off. To that extent we’re sure many are wondering if LG will follow in the footsteps of Samsung and HTC and announce a Google Edition of the LG G2 handset. Unfortunately for those hoping for a stock Android experience with the G2’s hardware, you’re out of luck because it seems that there are no plans at the moment for such a device.

According to Ken Hong, a spokesperson for LG, the company could change its mind down the road, but for now they are hoping that the LG G2 will be able to be a success based on its own merits, rather than the fact that it runs on a stock version of Android. After all Samsung has had plenty of success with its Galaxy line up phones running on the TouchWiz UI, so we guess LG is hoping to emulate the success of its rival. Either way for those who want a stock LG G2, we guess you’ll have to flash the stock version of Android yourself, which the not-so tech savvy might find difficult to accomplish.
