Every month the lucky few who have Google Glass Explorer units are treated to a new software update that opens up more features and brings a host of new improvements. Today Google started rolling out a new update to Explorers, the update brings a host of new improvements, it particularly improves voice commands allowing third party apps to tap into this functionality. You will all have probably heard the phrase “Ok Glass,” this default phrase make Google Glass ready to respond to your command, now third party apps can be invoked with similar phrases.
Only Evernote and Path apps have the ability to tap into voice commands right now. Saying “take a note” or “post an update” will accomplish relevant tasks on Evernote and Path respectively. From now on, other apps will be able to support this feature as well. More Google Now cards have been built in, these includes showtimes for movie theaters located nearby, local emergency alerts as well as reservation reminders. Fast forward, rewind and pause options are now available during video playback, users can use the touch-sensitive area to invoke them. This particular feature currently works only with CNN video updates and the Explorer’s own videos. Google is expected to launch Glass for the public in 2014.
