Motorola Migrate For Android Makes Life Easier When Changing Phones
Earlier this morning, we took a look at the Connect Chrome extension and how it was released before the long awaited Motorola Moto X launch (with the smartphone itself “confirmed” for a Verizon release this August 23rd), but it seemed that the Connect Chrome extension was not alone. Somehow, the Motorola Migrate app for Android, too, managed to sneak its way into the Google Play Store, where it was specially programmed to make life easy for those who want to synchronize data between an older handset to a new one. The Motorola Migrate app is available for all Android-powered handsets, as long as they run on Android 2.2 or higher.
The premise of Motorola Migrate is a cinch – all you need to do is log into the Motorola service on your old handset, choose call history, text messages, SIM card contacts, media, and twiddle with some extremely basic settings, before you fire up the Motorola Migrate app on your new handset, scan a QR code, and you are good to go. Perhaps this is a veiled attempt at nudging folks to pick up the Moto X, giving them full confidence that there’s an app which allows one to transfer all contacts and selected content from an older Android-powered device to the shiny new Moto X.
